Strategic Objectives for a New Industrial Partnership

Boost co-investment by engaging venture capital through the Transatlantic Venture Platform to scale promising companies.

Connect ecosystems to foster cross-border partnerships and global-ready innovation.

Target key sectors by focusing efforts on five priorities that drive innovation and shared growth.

01

Leverage world-class talent by uniting engineers, researchers, and innovators from both countries to develop advanced solutions and drive technological breakthroughs with global impact.

02

Align talent and capital by connecting Italy’s dynamic SMEs and skilled workforce with U.S. investment and market access to accelerate scale-ups and foster shared prosperity.

03

Advance joint R&D leadership by deepening cooperation in cutting-edge sectors such as space, life sciences, energy, and AI to generate impactful discoveries and industrial applications.

04

Build resilient value chains by reinforcing trusted transatlantic partnerships that secure supply networks, enhance industrial reliability, and ensure long-term competitiveness in strategic industries.

Unlocking Shared Value Across Innovation Ecosystems

Italy and the United States combine complementary strengths to accelerate innovation, strengthen resilience, and enhance competitiveness across industries and regions.

Fostering Synergies Across 5 Strategic Sectors

Space & Blue Economy

Strengthening collaboration in outer space exploration and the sustainable “blue economy” of the oceans, leveraging joint expertise in satellite technology, space infrastructure, and maritime innovation to expand frontiers and security.

Life Sciences, Biotech & Pharma

Advancing collaborative research and innovation in health sciences, spanning biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical technologies, to improve lives and drive biomedical breakthroughs in both nations’ healthcare sectors.

Energy Innovation

Partnering on next-generation energy solutions, from clean renewables and advanced nuclear technology to smart grids and hydrogen, aiming for a more sustainable and secure energy future through shared innovation.

Tourism & Place Branding

Combining Italy’s unparalleled cultural heritage and tourism appeal with U.S. investment, marketing, and infrastructure expertise to promote sustainable tourism, enhance destination development, and boost regional attractiveness.

A Transatlantic Effort Backed by Institutions and Regions

The initiative is spearheaded by Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Transatlantic Investment Committee (TIC) and Transatlantic Harmonic Foundation (THF). Italian regional governments (through the Conference of Regions) and national industry agencies are actively involved, ensuring broad backing across Italy’s public and private sectors.

On the American side, the U.S. Department of State and Department of Commerce support the effort alongside the SelectUSA program and economic development organisations from numerous U.S. states. This robust U.S. engagement, from federal agencies to state-level partners, underscores a shared transatlantic commitment to the initiative’s success.
